VoIP FAQs
1. What is the NBS V.o.I.C.E. VoIP solution?
Network Billing Systems' Voice over Internet Communications Exchange (V.o.I.C.E.) service is a VOIP (voice over IP) platform that delivers advanced telephone features and functionality, to your home or business, not normally offered (or for which you are charged extra) by your existing telephone company.
2. How is NBS' VoIP service different from my normal telephone service?
NBS V.o.I.C.E. bypasses the traditional circuit-switched PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and instead routes your calls over a broadband Internet connection.
3. What is the sound quality of telephone calls made over NBS V.o.I.C.E.?
The sound quality of our V.o.I.C.E. service is as good as or better than that of calls made over normal telephone lines.
4. Will VoIP save me money on my long distance bills?
In bypassing your local phone company a new world of savings is open to you. Residential users can sign up for unlimited local and long distance plans, with significant savings for nation-wide calling. For corporate users with multiple offices or remote tele-workers, the benefits can be even greater. In-network or on-net calls, are free, and off-site users get all the same capabilities as if they were sitting at a desk in the main office.
5. Can I keep my existing telephone number AND still use NBS V.o.I.C.E.?
In most cases your existing telephone number can be ported over to our V.o.I.C.E. system.
6. Are there any special network requirements I need to have in place in order to use NBS V.o.I.C.E.?
We can provide the connectivity, equipment and services necessary to deliver a cost effective VoIP solution. The end result: just pick up the phone and dial. The advanced network technology behind connecting each call is totally transparent to the end user.
7. Do I need additional bandwidth to utilize your VoIP service?
Not necessarily. NBS V.o.I.C.E. has different bandwidth requirements depending on the number of concurrent calls that need to be made. It is also possible to add a separate internet line, dedicated solely to carrying V.o.I.C.E. calls. NBS offers competitively priced internet access via our T1, DS3, and DSL connectivity services.
